Description

This is a great horse property with outstanding views and privacy that has a nice log home, shop/garage, barn and other outbuildings. The views from this property are amazing. Catch the first light of day, all the way to the warm sunsets and enjoy the myriad of colors in between as the light bounces off the mountains around you. High up above Big Horn, WY, you can overlook the scenic Little Goose Creek Valley all the way to Sheridan. The ranches below give a wonderful pastoral view shed. In particular, the famous Polo Ranch lays to the north and immediately adjacent to the East is Hidden Valley Ranch that has been placed in a conservation easement. Also in view are the Brinton, Gallatin, Canyon and Flying H Ranches, all significant in the history and shaping of this area’s culture and written about in Sam Morton’s book, Where the Rivers Run North. The view is fairly secure and it should be comforting to know that the most likely changes will be weather and season related.

This property is also at the foot of the Big Horn Mountains, literally just a couple miles/minutes from the Bighorn National Forest, which can be accessed just up Red Grade Road. It is open seasonally to vehicle traffic, but one can access it via snowmobile, snowshoes or snowcat in the winter too.

The home is very comfortable with 4 bedrooms and 3 baths and a deck that extends toward the view on the eastern side. With a rock fireplace and wood and log construction, this home is western and you’ll feel right in place with your surroundings.

CLIMATE

The climate around the Sheridan area is one of the most “live-able” climates in Wyoming with pleasant summers and moderate winters. Perhaps it’s the proximity to the 45th parallel along with the positioning next to the Big Horn Mountains and the lower altitude, but the Big Horn Mountain foothills have always been one of the most desirable places to live for those who have experienced it. Whatever the reason, it’s hard to argue that this area doesn’t have the greenest and most pleasant climates. The climate at this property location is almost always warmer in the winter and cooler in the summer that the valley below.
